- You must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Have knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household (All household must meet and agree on the cat/dog).
- Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for the pet.
- Be able to pay the required adoption fee
- Dogs, cats, puppies and kittens $100
- Ferrets $25
- Rabbits and guinea pigs $10 (with proof of cage)
- Pocket Critters $5
- Understand and be willing/able to pay the required $50.00 spay/neuter deposit, which will be refunded to you upon proof of your adopted animals spay/neuter which must be done within 30 days of the contractual spay/neuter date (PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT IF THE SPAY/NEUTER IS NOT DONE WITHIN THE 30 DAYS OF YOUR CONTRACT SPAY/NEUTER DATE, YOU WILL FORFIET YOUR $50.00 DEPOSIT).
- Understand your adoption fee includes:
- Your new pets initial vaccines and deworming, feline leukemia testing (cats only), heartworm testing (dogs over 6 months) & microchipping.
- A discount on the initial exam and the spay/neuter of your new adopted cat/dog. The discount will be at the vets discretion (If you choose to use a vet who participates in our adoption program).
Adoption Policies
- We do require that ALL animals adopted from the Humane Society be spayed/neutered, receive proper veterinary care (including vaccinations), be properly licensed and adhere to all laws and ordinances.
- We do require that everyone in the household go through a "Pre-Adoption Consultation" prior to the actual adoption.
- We reserve the right to approve or refuse adoption to anyone.
- If at any time your adopted pet is not being kept in accordance with our adoption policies, we reserve the right to reclaim the animal.
- It is our job to prevent suffering: those animals that cannot be placed according to these policies will be humanely euthanized.
