We adopted Rommel in May 2010. He had been adopted once before, and returned. We renamed him Winston, and he came home to with us. He was so afraid at first, not getting off the couch, eating a little bit, and startled by loud noices. Time and effort ruled the day, and Winston slowly emerged from his shell. We found that he did not know how to play with toys and does not bark. Over the last 7 months, Winston has blossed into the best dog I have ever owned. He sleeps in our bed, minds on the leash, and loves to walk at the park. We cannot thank HSEC enough for allowing us to adopt this perfect member of our family. I've attached some pictures of the happy boy!!

We're coming upon 4yrs since we adopted "Prince" from you on 9/16/06, after our 15 yr old keeshond had to be put down. Prince was believed to be Keeshond mix was what drawn me to his picture on Petfinder. He only had one more week to go on his time there! He has been one of the greatest dogs we've had yet! Gets along with everything & everyone, especially small pets. His soulmate right now is our 9 yr old Golden Retriever. Prince loves to camp, go on vacations, walks, & pouts if can't go with you in the car. He is my spoiled baby I guess you'd say. Don't know what would of done w/o him in fact. sending you some pics of him.
Sincerely,
Pam Adams

My kitten Charlyn was just 4 months old when we said we'd cat-sit for a couple we know that was in moving limbo. They were staying with parents until they could find a place of their own and could not have the cat there. We took Jasper in and Charlyn and him soon became playmates. We expected to have Jasper for a few weeks but it ended up being 2 months! By the time Jasper went to his new home, Charlyn was so used to him that she seemed sad and lonely. We talked about getting another kitten so she'd have a friend again but we weren't sure we wanted to make that commitment. I ended up visiting the shelter one day during my lunch break at work and as soon as I saw the kitten sticking her little paw out the bars and jumping around, I knew she was the one! I didn't expect to pick one out that day but I filled out an application and placed a hold on her right then.
We brought Margot home and introduced her to Charlyn. It took them a few days to get used to each other, and Margot a good week to get used to the house, but they were soon playing and cuddling all day long. We can't imagine our home without both of these girls and they are definitely sisters now! Always together, whether playing or sleeping, or getting into mischief.

On February 13 we adopted a 2 month old black lab named Army Strong at the Concord Mall event. When we came to pick up him 2 days later from the shelter he was running a 103.0 degree fever. We were asked if we still wanted to take him home. I immediatly signed the papers and ran him to the vet where he was treated with pnemonia. After a 2 week recovery I am happy to say he is now 5 months old and 41 pounds of energy!!!!
We were asked if we were going to change his name, however after pulling out of pnemonia successfully and regaining his strength we decided he indeed, is Army Strong.
In the picture is Cookie, which we had adopted a year or so prior. As you can see they have become friends and frequently argue over who gets the ball of yarn and the bed.
We are blessed to have received these wonderful companions and I believe they are both happy to have a loving home!!
Thank you for taking these pets in so they may find a forever home!!!!
